Saying Goodbye to the Stowe Land Trust

I have just finished thirteen years as a member of the Stowe Land Trust board. It has been an exciting time in Stowe to be part of this wonderful organization. We have conserved over 3,000 acres and have just completed out 27 th project. I have personally been a major part of the fund raising efforts to preserve these projects. I have seen the organization grow from one executive director to a staff of three. We have became an accredited land trust as of 2008. This was a daunting feet, with the final document weighing in at 48 pounds.

I cannot thank my fellow board members and the SLT staff enough. Without the direction of Heather Furman, our executive director, Becca Washburn assistant director, and Erin Bruhns, administrative assistant the Stowe Land Trust would not be the organization it is today. They all work tirelessly to help the Board and to meet with potential donors while attending site walks, and fund raising functions. ,It has been a good run and I have enjoyed every minute. But now it is time for new members to take over and bring new and creative ideas to energize the organization.

The environment and the habitats that it protects have been a life long mission of mine. I have been on the Vermont Nature Conservancy, the Stowe Conservation Board and the Stowe Land Trust. I will continue to support these organizations.
