COVID-19 and Our Market

Please be assured that all of us at Coldwell Banker Carlson Real Estate are working to monitor the market. More important than the market, we want to let you know that we are thinking about all of you and your safety. We have cut back on our normal office hours, so if you need to reach us please do so by phone and email.

While it’s too early to understand the full impact on the real estate market, we do know that policies being mandated by many states will in the short-term affect showings, transactions, and overall activity. As with all affected industries, we all hope this is short-lived and that the overall effects dissipate within a few months. That being said it’s important to understand that real estate is still transacting. Many deals that were in place prior to this emergency are still moving forward and people still believe in the strength of our market. We are still planning to conduct showings as they are requested and permitted by sellers. What we know and believe, as we saw after 9/11 and 2008, is that Vermont real estate holds its value. We do not see major swings up or down like the rest of the country, our market is like our old Vermont farmers, steady and reliable.

Keep in mind that the housing inventory remains low. This situation is not the result of a housing crisis; interest rates are low, and banks are well funded.
